Announcement
Happy Holidays from Wanderstruck Studio! Thank you so much for your patience while I was hiking on the PCT this summer. It was an incredible trip!
Now that I'm back in the studio, I'm busy preparing for a series of exhibitions of my fiber art landscapes, a sampling of which you can find on my website, wanderstruckstudio.com. In the meantime, I'm happy to be part of hiking/mountain enthusiasts' holiday celebrations by offering small ornaments and feltings, which you can find in my Etsy shop. All of my ornaments can be personalized, and I'm also available to create bespoke felted works.
Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful holiday season!
Happy trails,
Kris

Frequently asked questions
How do you recommend I frame my new felting?
If your felting will be hung in a living room or bedroom, I would suggest framing it without glass, which allows the texture of the piece to be easily appreciated. If you’re looking for art to hang in a kitchen, bathroom, or children’s room, I would suggest putting it behind glass. For this, a thin shadow box frame or professional frame with a spacer is perfect, as it still allows the viewer to see the felting’s depth and detail.
How should I care for my felting?
If your felting is exposed to the air, it will need occasional care to look its best. I ship a piece of plastic mesh canvas with each mounted or framed felting. Simply hold the plastic canvas up to your felting, hold a vacuum nozzle a distance away, and vacuum lightly.
One of my favorite pieces sold out; will you make it again?
It depends. I make each of my mounted pieces (the 5”x7” to 11”x14” scenes) individually, but I regularly revisit scenes I’ve used in the past and make them again. On the other hand, my studio pieces (the framed pieces 16”x20” and larger) will never be made again. While I haven’t yet, I hope someday to turn to scenes from previous studio pieces and reimagine them in different sizes or with different techniques.
Do you accept custom orders?
Yes, I accept commissions! If you'd like me to felt a custom piece for you (16"x20" or larger), message me. We can work together to choose a photograph that would lend itself well to felting and decide on a timeline.
How did you learn to felt?
When I was forced off the Pacific Crest Trail with a Lyme disease relapse, I found myself at home in Kentucky, with lots of wool from our pet sheep, lots of photographs from my hikes, and lots of housebound time. I started experimenting and soon found a way to celebrate my memories from the trail. Though I'm a self-taught fiber artist, I grew up sewing and crafting with my mother's instruction.
Is your art available for wholesale?
I have some products available for wholesale. If you are interested in carrying Wanderstruck Studio items in your shop, please contact me directly, and I can send you a line sheet with terms.
